Matthew's wife, Lisa, is having an affair with Adrian, a British theatre director. Or perhaps the affair is part of the play being rehearsed. But then what's with Cory, the mysterious woman who seems to shadow the others and brings the story to its surprising conclusion. Or does she? Preview: John Proctor is the Villain

A wickedly funny coming-of-age story.

A one-stoplight town in rural Georgia is the backdrop for the literary and emotional awakenings of a group of high school girls in Kimberly Belflower's wickedly funny and uncompromising theatrical rebuttal. It's 2018, and Mr. Carter leads his honors lit class in examining a classic American drama, with lessons sandwiched between state mandated sex-ed lectures and passionate discussions on the merits of pop music. But when the students start to question what they see as a problematic play, shocking revelations begin to surface that will have consequences far beyond the classroom. A twisty, modern revision of a canonical text, John Proctor is the Villain dares us to toss off our collective notion of "hero" ... and let it burn.
